Taking place on Sunday, January 26, 2025, this highly anticipated race is part of the Maine Winter Fat Bike Series and celebrates a decade of thrilling winter biking. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Rangeley Lakes region, this event combines adrenaline-pumping competition with stunning snowy vistas.
Whether you're a seasoned fat bike rider or new to the sport, the Rangeley Fat Bike Loppet promises an unforgettable experience for participants and spectators alike. With carefully groomed trails, exciting course options, and a welcoming community atmosphere, this is your chance to embrace the thrill of winter cycling in Maine’s pristine wilderness.

Men’s & Women’s Long Course (16-20 miles, 2 laps) starts at 10:15 AM
Men’s & Women’s Short Course (8-10 miles, 1 lap) starts at 10:20 AM
Awards: Prizes for the top three men and women, including locally sourced swag.
What Makes This Event Unique?
1. Course Details
The Rangeley Fat Bike Loppet course takes full advantage of the diverse terrain at the Trails Center. Riders can expect a mix of:
Wide straightaways
Gradual ascents and descents
Challenging hill climbs and thrilling downhill sections
If weather permits, the course will include a combination of groomed nordic trails and singletrack, creating a balanced and exciting ride. The venue is well-known for hosting cross-country ski marathons, attracting competitors from across the East Coast, and offers similar breathtaking views and potential wildlife sightings for fat bikers.
2. Top-Tier Grooming
The trails are meticulously prepared using a PistenBully nordic groomer for firm, smooth corduroy, with snowmobile grooming for singletrack sections. Course adjustments will be made to ensure the best riding conditions.
3. Spectator-Friendly Atmosphere
The stadium-sized start/finish area provides excellent visibility, and the sidehill overlooking the stadium offers a perfect vantage point for cheering fans. Several spots near the yurt lodge also make for prime spectating and photo opportunities.
Important Notes for Participants
Weather Contingency: If conditions are too soft, the event will be postponed. Should the rescheduled date also face cancellation, participants can choose to:
Push their reservation to next year
Donate their entry fee to the grooming fund
Request a refund
Refund Policy: If the event is canceled, all entry fees (excluding BikeReg fees) will be refunded.
Online Registration: Deadline and total registration limits are yet to be announced.
